A leader of a notorious cult group at Somolu known as the EFCC boys, Adebayo, aka Ogbor, has been arrested by the police.
Ogbor was reportedly arrested by
policemen attached to the Alade Police Division around 6pm at a joint
close to Abiodun Bus Stop. He was said to be drinking at the time with
other hoodlums.
Ogbor was alleged to have actively
participated in the release of a suspect known as Friday from the police
custody about a week ago.
A resident, who craved anonymity, said,
“For a long while now, Ogbor has been a terror to the Somolu community.
He is the leader of the EFCC boys and is always in the company of other
notorious cultists like Rasaki, Yomi Ado, Big Ahmed, Elewure, Eyin
Bouncing, and Lekan Osanle.
“He actively participated in vandalising
over 100 vehicles and the destruction of other property at Oreofero,
Popoola and Akoka streets last year. Under the pretext of holding a
candlelight procession for a dead member, Ogbor and his group looted and
destroyed property in these communities.
“A few weeks ago, a printer, Lati,
narrowly escaped death when he was attacked by a faction of a cult group
led by Friday, the suspect who escaped with police handcuffs. Lati was
wounded and was about to be shot, he was just lucky that the gun that
Friday used got jammed.”
It was gathered that residents at Akoka
and Popoola streets had written many petitions to the Lagos State
Commissioner of Police over Ogbor’s activities.
Ogbor was also accused of participating
in the disruption of a carnival at Akeju Street and indiscriminate
shooting in the area. A soldier was reportedly wounded in the incident.
PUNCH Metro gathered that after the arrest, Ogbor was transferred to the Area H Command, Ogudu.
He was said to have been transferred
again to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, where
sources said he was being investigated for murder and other crimes.
When contacted, the Lagos Deputy Police
Public Relations Officer, Mr. Damasus Ozoani, said, “Ogbor was not
arrested by the Alade Police Division, the arrest was carried out by the
Area Command, Ogudu.
“Ogbor has a case to answer with the
police. He is one of those who have been declared wanted by the police
and he has presently been transferred to the SCID to answer allegations
leveled against him. Investigations are currently ongoing.”
