Breaking News: Shettima Enters Another Closed Door Meeting with Jonathan over Bama Attack

Barely 48 hours after his previous meeting with the President, the Governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima, has entered the Presidential Villa, Abuja, again.
He met President Goodluck Jonathan on February 19, 2014, Wednesday, to brief him on another fresh onslaught by the Boko Haram sect on Bama town.
Gov. Shettima did not reveal any important details of his second meeting with the President.
When asked what he was doing in Aso Rock again for the second time in 48 hours, he queried:
“Do I need your consent to come and see my President? He is the President of Nigeria and I need to update him adequately on the goings-on in the state.”
He declined to comment on the presidency’s reaction on his declaration that the insurgents were better armed.
“I don’t want to comment. He is our pres and I am here to update him on the goings on in Bama and I don’t want to make additional comments,” he said.
On the latest on the attack by the insurgents in his state, he simply said:
“There was an attack on Bama. We are yet to get the actual number of casualties, but I was told the insurgents inflicted much damage on the town, otherwise the military are doing their best.”
It would be recalled that Gov. Shettima had declared on Monday that the insurgents were carrying out their gory acts in these communities because they were well armed and motivated with sophisticated weapons that the army.
The presidency on Tuesday faulted the governor’s position that the insurgents were well armed, saying, “the statement made by Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima that the insurgents are better armed than our military is based on a civilian perception of the situation at hand.”
Senior special assistant to the President on public affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe had at a press conference, said it was “clear that Governor Shettima does not have the expertise to categorise or classify the effectiveness of any weapon.”
